QUID – 3D Scene Radiation Model

SSI’s Quick Image Display (QUID) model accurately computes and displays radiance images of aircraft or other objects at animation rates while the object undergoes unrestricted motion. QUID generates accurate radiance maps and in-band and spectral signatures from visible to LWIR wavelengths. Animation frame rates are obtained without sacrificing radiometric accuracy.

By implementing QUID using the Open Scene Graph (OSG) library, graphics hardware is exploited to perform computationally intensive calculations such as hidden surface removal, 3-D transformations, and shadow casting. QUID supports a variety of target geometry files and is capable of rendering scenes containing objects with thousands of facets.
